Here at The Unnamed Skincare, we have a not-so-secret love affair with the superpower ingredient of peptides. If peptides are unfamiliar to you - spoiler alert – they are the key to achieving firmer, plumper and more youthful skin. 

To celebrate the release of our newly reformulated Firming & Anti-Aging Sheet Mask, here’s a rundown of everything you need to know about this ingredient.

What are Peptides?

In a nutshell, peptides are naturally occurring amino acids, produced by our bodies to create protein needed by our skin. Adding peptides into your skincare regime can help to stimulate the collagen production that your skin needs to maintain its firmness and elasticity.

As we know, collagen production reduces dramatically as we age. So by providing your skin a boost of collagen through your skincare, peptides can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and early signs of aging.

In addition to stimulating collagen production, peptides can offer numerous other skincare benefits, which can be helpful if your complexion has been dull, inflamed or dry. These include strengthening your skin barrier, repairing damaged skin and evening out your skin tone.

But what really sets peptides apart from other hydrating skincare ingredients is that peptides can penetrate much more deeply into your skin. By penetrating through the outer layers, they can deliver much-deeper hydration that helps to repair and renew your skin from the inside out.

What has changed in the new formula?

Whilst we will always have a soft spot with our original Firming & Anti-Aging Sheet Mask, we’re excited to have found a great way to make this customer-favourite sheet mask even more effective.

We’ve replaced the original formula which contained collagen and one form of peptide, with this supercharged blend of three peptides, to create an even more active mask.

So which types of peptides did we choose to include?

Acetyl Hexpeptide-38

Ideal for enhancing lipid and volume growth, this peptide helps to maintain plump and taut skin from within. If you’ve noticed your skin is starting to sag or develop fine lines, this peptide will help to replenish the volume of lipids under your outer layers to stimulate a smoother and firmer complexion.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-51

This peptide is helpful for reducing the impact of environmental factors that may have damaged your skin over time, such as sun damage, diet and pollution. We’ve chosen Acetyl Hexapeptide-51 for its ability to activate and mimic natural skin mechanisms to repair and renew skin cells from the inside out, helping to bring your skin back to its more youthful state.

Acetyle Octapeptide-3

Combining various amino acids, Acetyle Octapeptide-3 helps to restore skin and reduce visible signs of aging. We’ve included peptide to help bind water under the skin’s outer layers, which is particularly helpful in reducing the appearance and formation of wrinkles.

What else has changed?

We’ve also updated this formulation to use natural fragrances instead of synthetic. This is particularly ideal for those who are prone to sensitivity from synthetics, or those who are seeking a cleaner skincare routine.
